• Fuel Pump (High Pressure Side) Inspection
WARNING
Gasoline is highly flammable and explosive.
You can be burned or seriously injured when handling fuel.
• Keep heat, sparks and flame away.
• Wipe up spills immediately.
• Handle fuel only outdoors.
1) Remove the emergency stop switch clip.
2) Turn the combination switch ON. Operate the fuel pump
(high pressure side) and check it sounds for approximately
2 seconds.
If it does not sound, check the fuel pump (high pressure
side) main wire harness (P. 5-83).
3) Relieve the fuel pressure according to "How to Relieve Fuel
Pressure" (P. 5-79).
4) Remove the service check bolt and set the special tool (fuel
pressure hose) in the threaded bolt hole.

5) Operate the priming pump and feed the fuel to the vapor
separator.
6) Turn the combination switch ON. Operate the fuel pump
once for approximately 2 seconds and measure the
gasoline discharge volume using a measuring cylinder.

7) If there is no discharge or discharge volume is too small,
check the following.
• Check the fuel strainer (high pressure side) for blockage
(P. 3-12).
• Check the fuel hose for blockage.
• Check the pressure regulator for proper operation
(P. 5-81).
8) If no abnormality is detected, replace the fuel pump (high
pressure side).
