Engine speed does not stabilize
during running at high speed and
engine speed is not as high as it used
to be during running with the throttle
fully open.
Throttle cable misadjusted.
Fuel strainer (high pressure side)
blocked.
Low octane gasoline used.
Engine speed increases excessively.
Propeller mismatched.
Propeller faulty.
Outboard motor installed incorrectly
(transom height/tilt angle faulty).
Adjust the throttle rod and the
remote control cable [throttle side]

Clean the fuel strainer (high pressure
side) or replace it (P. 3-12).
Use the gasoline of correct octane
rating.
Replace with the correct propeller.
Replace the propeller.
Install the outboard motor properly.
