• SPARK TEST
1) Return the throttle and move the shift lever or remote
control lever to the "N" (Neutral) position.
2) Remove the engine cover (P. 4-2).
3) Disconnect the three injector 2P connectors.
4) Remove the No.1 spark plug cap and remove the spark
plug.
5) Attach the removed No.1 spark plug cap to the spark plug.
6) Ground the negative (-) electrode (i.e. threaded part) of the
removed spark plug against the cylinder head mounting
bolt.
7) Turn the combination switch to the "START" position and
start the engine. Check whether sparks jump across the
electrodes.
CAUTION
Turning the combination switch to the "START" position
while touching the high tension cord will generate high
voltage, which is very dangerous. Be sure to ground the
negative electrode of the spark plug against the cylinder
head cover bolt and hold the spark plug cap to check for
sparks.
8) Perform spark test at each spark plug.
• OIL PRESSURE CHECK
1) Remove the engine cover (P. 4-2).
2) Remove the oil pressure switch (P. 5-116).
3) Remove the liquid gasket from the mounting base of the oil
pressure switch.
4) Install the oil pressure gauge attachment PT1/8 and tighten
it to the specified torque.
TORQUE: 9 N . m (0.9 kgf . m, 6.6 lbf . ft)
5) Install the oil pressure gauge set.
6) Start the engine and measure the oil pressure.
Oil pressure
78 - 118 kPa (0.8 - 1.2 kgf/cm
(gear in neutral)
11.4 - 17.1 psi) at 850 min
