9) Use a socket that matches the diameter of the valve spring
retainer. Attach the socket to the retainer, and lightly tap
the socket to separate the valve keepers from the retainer.

• Tap each valve stem head straight down. Take care not to

bend the valves.
• Support the cylinder head assembly with an engine table
or equivalent to prevent damage to the valve.
