c. PISTON ASSEMBLY
1) Check the connecting rod bearing for damage (scores,
scratches, etc.) and replace it with a new one if necessary.

2) Remove the connecting rod bearing and the piston ring

from the piston assembly.
Check the piston ring for damage (scores, scratches, etc.)
and replace it with a new one if necessary.

• Store the removed connecting rod bearing and the piston

ring grouped by the piston.
• Do not expand the piston ring excessively as it can break
5
easily.
• Do not damage the piston with the piston ring.

3) Apply engine oil to the piston pin clip, and align the end
9
gap of the piston pin clip with the cutout in the piston pin
bore.

• Do not damage the piston pin clip installation groove.

4) Remove the piston pin clips installed on both ends of the
piston through the cutout in the piston pin.

Remove the piston pin.
Replace the piston pin clips with new ones on reassembly.

• Take care not to pop out the piston pin clips.
