39) Fold back the power tilt switch wire and set it in the tube B
as shown [Power trim/tilt type only].

40) Holding the emergency stop switch connectors in the tube
B, clamp the tube B at the connectors securely using a new

harness band clip.
After fastening the harness band clip, cut off the excess of

the band at 15 to 20 mm from the fastener end (P. 16-28).

• Check that the wires are not interfering with the tiller
handle assembly.

41) Apply thread locking agent (LOCTITE

the threads of the two 6 x 12 mm bolt washer.
Install the cable bracket and clamp bracket, and tighten the

two 6 x 12 mm bolt washer to the specified torque.
TORQUE: 7 N . m (0.7 kgf . m, 5.2 lbf . ft)

42) Apply marine grease to the installation part of each cable.

Set the shift side remote control cable in the lower right
hole of the handle cable installation hole in the grommet,

and set the throttle side remote control cable in the lower
left hole by viewing the grommet from the outboard motor
side as shown.

Install the grommet on the tiller handle assembly.

• Note that the longer remote control cable is the shift side
cable, while the shorter cable is the throttle side cable.

43) Set the shift side and throttle side remote control cables on
the shift frame and the throttle arm respectively, and install
18
the two 4 mm E-rings securely.
19
• Check that the throttle side remote control cable does not
interfere with the power tilt switch.
