Read the pressure gauge to measure the upper chamber
side hydraulic pressure with the piston rod compressed

fully.

• If the measurement is outside the specification, check the
power trim/tilt assembly for oil leakage.

• If the oil is not leaking but the hydraulic pressure dropped
sharp below the specification, oil can be leaking through
the oil seal inside the power tilt motor assembly.

Disassemble the power tilt motor assembly (P. 14-46) and
check it, then measure the upper chamber hydraulic

pressure again (P. 14-37).

5) Connect the battery cables to the power tilt motor

2P connector terminals to extend the piston rod fully.
(Perform <To extend the piston rod> on P. 14-33.) Hold the
piston rod extended fully.

6) Remove the special tool (gauge joint A) and the pressure

gauge, and install the seal washer, manual valve and the
internal circlip as shown.

• The ATF will spout out when the special tool (gauge joint

A) is removed unless the piston rod is extended fully. Be
sure to extend the piston rod fully before removing the
19
special tool (gauge joint A).
• A small quantity of ATF will flow out when the special
tool (gauge joint A) is removed. Install the manual valve
20
quickly.
• Take care not to move the seal washer out of position or
collapse it inside the cylinder comp.
7) Tighten the manual valve to the specified torque.
TORQUE: 1.7 N . m (0.2 kgf . m, 1.3 lbf . ft)
8) Check the ATF level with the piston rod extended fully
(P. 14-34).
It must be at the edge of the oil filler port.
If the ATF level is low, add it to the specified level.
