h. HYDRAULIC PRESSURE INSPECTION
• Perform hydraulic pressure inspection after bleeding air with
the unit removed from the outboard motor.

• When the power trim/tilt assembly has been disassembled
and reassembled, perform hydraulic pressure inspection
2
before installation.
• When the power trim/tilt assembly is mounted on the
outboard motor, remove the power trim/tilt assembly.

• Perform the following before starting the hydraulic pressure
inspection.

- Connect the battery cables to the power tilt motor
5
2P connector terminals in the same manner as described
under AIR BLEEDING.
- Operate the piston rod of the power trim/tilt assembly several
6
times, then extend the piston rod fully.
- Check the ATF level with the piston rod extended fully
7
(P. 14-34).
- Perform UPPER CHAMBER SIDE HYDRAULIC PRESSURE
8
INSPECTION and LOWER CHAMBER SIDE HYDRAULIC
PRESSURE INSPECTION using the special tools and
commercially available pressure gauge.

- Use the pressure gauge of P/F 1/4 in thread diameter and
40 MPa (400 kgf/cm

• LOWER CHAMBER SIDE HYDRAULIC PRESSURE

INSPECTION
1) Remove the internal circlip and the manual valve from the
14
cylinder comp.

• The ATF will spout out when the manual valve is removed
unless the piston rod is extended fully. Be sure to extend
16
the piston rod fully before removing the manual valve.
• A small quantity of ATF will flow out when the manual
valve is removed. Install the special tool (gauge joint B)
17
quickly.

2) Install the special tool (gauge joint B) and tighten it to the
specified torque to measure the lower chamber side
19
hydraulic pressure.
TORQUE: 1.7 N . m (0.2 kgf . m, 1.3 lbf . ft)

TOOL:
Gauge joint B (Lower chamber)
• Take care not to move the seal washer out of position or
collapse it inside the cylinder comp.
3) Install a commercially available pressure gauge on the
special tool (gauge joint B).
4) Check the ATF level with the piston rod extended fully.
It must be at the edge of the oil filler port of the oil tank.
